Eight megabytes before anything moved.
The homepage downloaded about 8 MB and 280 files before it settled: eight YouTube players, hundreds of animation frames for the 3D hand, a 725 KB decorative background. The server took over a second to build each page. On a mid-range phone the main content showed after 22 seconds.

Five fixes, design untouched.
A hard constraint from the client: the design and page structure stay exactly as they are. Everything happened under the hood, each fix measured against the original site in the same environment. The bars show roughly how much of the homepage weight was left after each step.
Same design. Seen six times sooner.
Main content on a phone in 3.3 seconds. Lighthouse performance from 56 to 90 on the homepage, 58 to 94 on the prosthetics page, with the renders, videos and scroll animations exactly as before. On the live server, page generation dropped from about 1.3 s to 0.2–0.5 s.
